Edward (Ed) Bayes

Designer, engineer, researcher

About

I am a designer, engineer, and researcher working at the intersection of machine learning and society.

I spend my days designing tools and policies to make machine learning more accessible and my nights building General Purpose. Previously, I led product design and AI safety teams at startups and Google, and advised governments on AI and climate policy.

A student of both the arts and sciences, I believe new ideas can be found at the intersection of disciplines.

Outside of work, I am a musician and keen champion of the underdog, having co-founded and volunteered with organizations that mentor young people to overcome adversity.
